Ralph York Cobb, Jr.
May 3, 1944 - February 2, 2025
Ralph York Cobb, Jr., of Bryan Texas, passed away February 2, 2025, at the age of 80 years old. Born on May 3, 1944 to parents Ralph and Eula Mae Cobb in Houston Texas, Ralph spent his life providing and caring for his family, traveling, and making memories with his children and grandchildren.
Ralph grew up in Reliance, Texas surrounded by family and friends. He attended Kurten school and graduated from Bryan High School in 1962. He married Cheryl Elliott on December 17th, 1965, and the two began a lifelong partnership filled with love and laughter. In 1967 Ralph graduated from his beloved Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was a proud Aggie and a loyal employee of 35 years to the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory where he was awarded the title of Assistant Agency Director Emeritus in February 2016. Ralph valued a lifelong pursuit of learning and loved to spend his time fishing and communicating with individuals all over the world via HAM radio. After retiring, Ralph traveled all over the United States in his RV with his wife Cheryl and their dogs, Gonzo and Elvis, visiting over 15 National Parks. Some of his favorite trips were to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon. Ralph was a member of the Reliance Baptist Church.
Ralph is survived by his wife Cheryl, son Roy Kevin Cobb and wife Cindy, daughter Kristen (Cobb) Lindsay and husband Craig; granddaughters Dr. Courtney Cobb, Valerie Lindsay, and Lauren Cobb; grandson Garrett Cobb; brother-in-law Gregory Shirley; aunt Marie Risinger of Terrell, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy Elliot and Mildred (Tince) Elliott; his sister Linda (Cobb) Shirley; sister-in-laws Kathleen (Elliott) Riley and Jeannine (Elliott) Batton; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. followed by the memorial service at Hillier’s at 4:00 pm. A graveside service will immediately follow at 5:00 p.m. at the Aggie Field of Honor & Memorial Cemetery in College Station, Texas. The officiant for the memorial service will be Pastor Glenn Connor of Normangee, TX.
Pallbearers will be members of Ralph’s family and friends; Garrett Cobb, Alex Spaulding, Gordy Bunch, Michael Wayne Goldwater, Shawn Rasco, and Dante Castillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch or St. Jude’s Cancer Research.
