Ginanna Lou Crouch, DVM
August 13, 1940 - September 5, 2024
Loving Sister, Passionate Veterinarian, and Lifelong Animal Advocate
Dr. Ginanna Crouch, DVM, a cherished member of both the Brookshire and San Benito communities, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, compassion, and dedication. Born and raised in San Benito, Texas, on August 13, 1940, to Benjamin Wilson Crouch and Virginia Elizabeth (Caldwell) Crouch, Ginanna always held her hometown close to her heart. After earning her degrees and dedicating over five decades of her life to Brookshire, she became well-known for her exceptional skill, caring nature, and steadfast commitment to animals.
A bright and determined student, Ginanna graduated from San Benito High School in 1958. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&I in 1962, but her true calling led her to Texas A&M, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1977. Her career as a veterinarian was more than just a profession; it was her life’s passion. Known for her love of Doberman Pinschers, Ginanna not only bred and showed them but dedicated her heart to ensuring the well-being of all the animals in her care.
Outside of her professional life, Ginanna was an adventurer at heart. She loved cruising through the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska, visiting the magical realms of Disney World, and above all, cheering for her beloved Texas A&M Aggies. Her joyful spirit was infectious—whether she was swapping stories from her travels or sharing her knowledge of animals, she always had a warmth that could light up a room.
Ginanna’s love for life was mirrored in her quirks and qualities—fun-loving, adventurous, and determined, she had a knack for making others feel welcome and cared for. Her kind heart and tireless energy will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving sister, Janice Cornett, who shared countless beautiful memories and a deep sisterly bond with Ginanna throughout the years. “Nannie” also leaves a treasure trove of sweet memories with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces , and great-nephews as well as many friends. Ginanna is preceded in death by her father, Wilson Crouch, her mother, Virginia Crouch, and her brother, Dr. Gary Crouch.
