Philip Donovan Moore 

May 6, 1958 - August 9, 2024 

Philip “Phil” Donovan Moore, 66, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on August 9, 2024, in Dallas, Texas.

Philip was born in Dallas, Texas on May 6, 1958, to H. D. “Don” Moore Jr. and Patsy (Phillips) Moore. He graduated from North Mesquite High School and received a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1980 where he was a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, and did graduate work at Embry Riddle University.

Philip was married to Bonita Rose Barnes on August 23, 1980, in Temple, Texas; they were married 43 years.

Philip was commissioned a second Lieutenant in the US Air Force following his graduation from Texas A&M in 1980. He was a Missile Launch Officer, Logistics Officer and Squadron Commander. He retired from the Air Force as a Major after living in five states and four countries. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he enjoyed a second career in Business Development. He enjoyed traveling. He was also actively involved in the Episcopal Church, Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Master and the Shrine.

Philip is preceded in death by his father, Grandparents Patrick and Blanche (Harris) Phillips, H.D. “Red” and Marie (Tillery) Moore and his aunt, Joanne James.

Philip is survived by his wife, daughter Taryn Leigh Moore of Willis, grandson Jackson Wyatt Moore of Willis, his mother, special family friend Christopher Rivera, and other friends both locally and across the globe.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Grove Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service including the Masonic Service will occur Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228 will be presided . A reception will follow Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A committal service will occur Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 2:15 PM to 2:30 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211.
