Robert Durwood "Rob" Williamson, LtCol USAF (Ret)

October 7, 1933 - July 7, 2024

With a life marked by dedication, love, and a zest for adventure, Robert Durwood Williamson, known affectionately as Rob, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. Born on October 7, 1933, in Memphis, TN, Rob's journey through life was one of purpose, joy, and the embrace of knowledge and friendship.

Rob's journey took him from Memphis to the vibrant streets of Austin and finally to the halls of Texas A&M University, where he graduated in 1957 in Engineering. Rob met the love of his life Agnes Rita Valdez and they married soon after in 1958. His thirst for knowledge and his innate courage led him to a distinguished career in the US Air Force, where he proudly served as a Navigator and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Rob, Agnes and their two daughters moved over nine times in twenty two years retiring in Plano, Texas. Rob seamlessly transitioned into a second career in the semiconductor business, where he continued to apply his analytical skills and unwavering work ethic.

Rob's life was enriched by his beloved family. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Agnes of 65 years. He is survived by his brother, Phil Mason, sharing not only a familial bond but also a lifetime of cherished memories. He was a loving father to his daughters, Pamela Ann Muncy (Husband Phil) and Rebecca Lynn Wilson (Husband Jeff) who shared in the joy of his life's journey. The light of his life was further brightened by his granddaughter, Athena June Wilson.

A man of many passions, Rob's interests painted the picture of a life well-lived. His love for golf was not confined to the greens; he enjoyed crafting custom golf clubs for himself and his friends, a testament to his skill and generosity. His vitality was evident in his commitment to staying physically fit, whether he was jogging or biking through the Texan landscapes. Rob's love for cars was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for design and mechanics, embodied in his cherished Triumph TR6 and Porsche 911.

Woodworking was not just a pastime for Rob; it was an art form. His shop was a place of creativity and craftsmanship, where he brought to life both the functional and the beautiful. His devotion to his faith was unwavering, and he found solace and strength in Bible Study as a devoted Catholic. Rob and Agnes were known for their hospitality, often entertaining friends and family with warmth and generosity. Together, they made their home a welcoming place where laughter and love were always in abundance.

As we say farewell to Rob, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by dedication to service for his country, a passion for life, and an enduring love for family and friends. In remembering Rob, we reflect on the words of Sir Winston Churchill, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Rob embodied this spirit of perseverance and courage throughout his life, and his legacy is one of strength, honor, and unwavering determination. We know that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, Rob; we take comfort in knowing you are with your soulmate Agnes forever.
