Dean Caleb Leathers 

July 3, 1981 - December 25, 2024 

Dean Caleb Leathers passed away December 25, 2024, in Malakoff, Texas at the age of 43.

Born and raised in Plano, TX he graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1999 and went on to attain a bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University/College Station. Post-graduate employment led Dean to the Houston area. His professional career centered on environmental health and safety in which he became recognized as an expert in processes and regulations. Dean eventually settled in Galveston, TX where, in 2024, he celebrated his 10-year anniversary with the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) as a Sr. Environmental Protection Specialist.

Dean believed in lifelong learning as evidenced by his many professional Certifications and recent achievement of a master’s degree from Texas Tech University.

In addition to his formal education, Dean developed an advocacy for diversity and inclusion while helping poor communities in Costa Rica, Dominica, and India on church sponsored mission trips.

Dean was blessed that his work life was in balance with his love of nature and concern for the environment. He took advantage of his proximity to Texas lakes and the Gulf of Mexico to fulfill his passion for fishing.

Dean is survived by his parents, Cristine and Dale Leathers of Malakoff TX, his brother, Devin Leathers (Krisi), niece Kasidy, nephews Kaeden and Kacey of Georgetown TX.
