Darrell W. Denman
June 4, 1951 - May 26, 2023
Darrell W. Denman fought the good fight and finished the race God laid out for him on May 26, 2023, 9 days short of 72 years old. He was born in Carthage, Texas to Aubrey and Loye Denman and had two older brothers. His father worked for Lone Star Gas in East Texas, so Darrell had several moves during his school years. He went to Texas A&M University to study mathematics and while there converted his roommate, so he decided to be a preacher. After graduation, he attended Sunset School of Preaching and Abilene Christian College. In his second semester there he met Elaine Huffard and they were married in 1976. They have one son, Jonathan, who was born in Jordan. Darrell received his master’s degree from Harding Graduate School of Religion. Darrell preached faithfully for churches in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Illinois, Virginia, Kansas, and the country of Jordan.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents and older brother Harold. His brother Gene passed away six days after Darrell. He is survived by his wife Elaine and his son Jonathan and wife Kate, and three grandchildren: Josiah, Asher and Charis. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Shirley Denman and Jackie Denman.
Darrell’s first love was Jesus, for whom he passionately preached and taught. His gift was encouraging people in everything he did but preferably with a cup of coffee. He spent more time around tables with people than in his office. In the last decade, he was able to use that gift by being the Ministry Leader at Celebrate Recovery and working with Carpenter Place. He continued to preach until his physical body could go no more. His final sermon was about the resurrection of Jesus. He has now entered the REST where he will receive his reward. He will be missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 30th, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Northside Church of Christ in Wichita, Kansas.
