Michael S. Alvarado 

April 28, 1951 - August 29, 2024 

Michael S. Alvarado, of Sterling, Virginia, answered the call of his Lord and Savior on August 29th, 2024.

He was born to Alexander and Alicia Alvarado on April 28, 1951 in Washington DC. He felt the call to follow in his father’s footsteps and serve his country from a young age. He served in the Naval reserves from 1971 to 1977 when he was called to Active Duty. Upon retiring from Active Duty, he started working in Naval Research in the DC area until 2019. He has a combined over 41 years of service to his country.

He was a graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned two BS Degrees. In 1975 a BS. in zoology. In 1978 a BS. in ocean engineering. He later earned a Master’s degree from American University.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Shay Alvarado of Sterling, VA. Stepdaughter Jen Bomby, of Sterling, VA. His brother Richard Alvarado, of San Antonio TX, and his sister-in-law Kathleen Ross of Sterling, VA, as well as his Mother-in-law, Jennette Lynch of Greenville, SC.

Honoring his last wishes, there will be a private viewing and service for the immediate family only. Any contributions or honors can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

There will be a celebration of Michael’s life at a later date and time.

He will be forever missed, but more importantly, he will be forever loved and never forgotten.
