Ché Menge Wilcox
September 15, 1977 - February 7, 2025
Ché Menge Wilcox of Cedar Park, TX, passed away at home on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at the age of 47 after a ten year battle with a high grade brain tumor. He was born September 15, 1977 in Takilma, Oregon. His early childhood was spent in Oregon and Michigan. The family moved to Houston when he was 11 years old and he continued spending joyful summers in Michigan with family.
Ché graduated from Texas A&M University where he had the time of his life and met the love of his life, Christie. He proposed to her under the Century Tree and they were married on June 9th, 2001.
Ché’s career as a software engineer began in California and Florida before settling in Austin in 2005. Ché’s career grew as his family grew. Though his work was always important to him, nothing made him happier than being with his family, playing with the kids, meeting up with friends and enjoying life.
He was a man of gentle strength and deep compassion. He had an easy-going demeanor that put people at ease and created deep friendships. His kindness and willingness to help others were defining traits that touched many lives. Above all else, he cherished his family. He loved spending time with his children and was so deeply proud of each of them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christie, his children, Ben, Cameron, and Emily, his mother, Elizabeth, his mother-in-law, Shelly, his father-in-law, Steve, his sister, Genevieve (Jon), his brother-in-law, Sandy (Kara), and his six nieces, Sophia, Kooper, Madeleine, Kodi, Eliana, and Alessandra.
His legacy is one of family, friends, and the meaningful connections he made during his career. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. The family would like to thank Ché’s care team at MD Anderson for fighting alongside us and never giving up hope during these past ten years. We would also like to thank Hospice Austin for the care and compassion they showed our family in Ché’s final days.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 1:30pm at the Chapel in the Remembrance Gardens, 4214 Capital of Texas Hwy, N. Austin TX 78746.
