Hardy Johnson 

January 2, 1941 - March 8, 2025 

Hardy Johnson, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 84 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Hardy was born on January 2, 1941, in Beaumont, TX, to the late David C. Johnson and Slanie B. Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, LaVern Fleetwood, Winnie Elliott and Jeannette Rice.

Hardy treasured his time at Texas A&M University and never stopped cheering for his Aggies. He started a career in sales that took him from Beaumont, TX, to Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC. In 1978, he founded Appliance Leasing of Charlotte and later served as Division Manager of Broyhill Furniture Rentals. He retired as President and Owner of PMAB, Inc. after 21 years with the company.

Hardy enjoyed all sports, but his greatest passion was golf, which took him all around the world and introduced him to lifelong friends. Hardy never met a stranger, was the life of the party, and the first and last on the dance floor. There was hardly anything he couldn’t fix. He was the ultimate “girl dad” and a cherished grandfather.

Hardy is survived by his wife, Mallory, of 51 years and daughters, Kathryn Word (Jim) of Sachse, TX, Kelley Perkins (Patrick) of Montclair, NJ, and Ashley Johnson of Charlotte, NC. He was a proud grandfather to Miles and Grant Perkins and Mackenzie and Charlotte McGee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Dr, Bluffton, SC 29909, followed by a lunch reception at Belfair Country Club, 200 Belfair Oaks Blvd, Bluffton, SC 29910.
