Gregory Paul Schroeder
March 2, 1964 - March 6, 2025
Gregory Paul Schroeder, was received into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, the 6th of March 2025. He was 61 years of age.
Born on the 2nd of March 1964, and raised in Houston, he was graduated from Sharpstown High School, Class of 1982. Greg attended Texas A&M University and was graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Class of 1986.
He worked for Puffer Sweiven in Houston as a mechanical engineer managing design and production of industrial valve products.
Greg was a faithful servant to the Lord. He was a lifelong member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Houston where he was baptized and confirmed.
Growing up, Greg enjoyed being at the ranch in Lincoln (outside of Giddings). He loved spending time with his closest friends in Marble Falls and hunting deer and doves at the Davis' land near Lampasas. He was a fan of Nascar, PGA golf, tennis, college and professional football. He was passionate about history and politics. Greg took immense pride in his home and liked to have a pristine lawn, lush landscaping, and vegetable garden. He loved his dog, Dawson, a rescue who brought him a great deal of joy. Greg had an affinity for the mountains of Colorado and the Big Bend of Texas. He enjoyed biking, walking, and playing golf at Memorial Park and Hermann Park.
His family, friends, and neighbors will always remember Greg’s kind and generous heart.
He is the beloved brother of Jennifer Schroeder. He is also survived by cousins, Lisa Shrauner and her husband James, Melanie Stewart, Kim Jones and her husband Tim, Master Sgt. Peter Stewart and his wife Susie, Aimee Kurio and her husband Matt, Lynda Liberty, Doug Liberty and his wife Karen Frame, Mark Liberty and his wife Dianna, Brenda Patterson and her husband Stephen; numerous great-nieces and nephews; close relatives, Ron Garner, Pam Carrabatta, and Sherry Garner; and numerous lifelong friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Diane (Schroeder) Garner and father, Milton C. "Buddy" Schroeder, Jr.; grandmother, Mary (Landrum) Tate Fields; grandmother, Irene L. (Liberty) Schroeder and grandfather, Milton C. Schroeder, Sr.; aunt, Carole Stewart and uncle, John "Jack" Stewart III; great uncle, Carl Liberty and great-aunt, Aileen; great-aunt Ruby Gromatzky and great-uncle, Carl R. Gromatzky; great-uncle, Dr. Paul “P.G.” Liberty; cousin, John Stewart IV; cousin, Carl “C.B.” Liberty; and cousin, Kay (Gromatzky) Anderson.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 20th of March 2025 in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston where the funeral service is to commence at twelve o'clock noon. Pastor Sam Parker of Houston's First Baptist Church is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer. The family will gather for a private committal at Giddings City Cemetery, Giddings, Texas at a later time.
