Alfred C. "Al" Lee
February 23, 1943 - September 7, 2022
Alfred C. Lee age 79 of San Antonio passed away peacefully just before sunset on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Al was born in the Castroville Hospital as the first child in an Air Force family in 1943. After WWII he lived in numerous countries as well as places across the United States including Germany, the Netherlands, Japan where his sister, Margo was born and San Angelo, Texas where his brother, Bobby was born.
Al graduated high school in upstate New York and afterwards his family returned to Texas where he attended and graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1966. He later studied Computer Science at the University of Houston while working for a government contractor that performed work for NASA where Al met his wife and she asked him out on the first date. It must have been an exciting time in July of 1969 to be a newlywed with a baby on the way as he watched with the rest of America, man landing on the moon. As he and other Engineers cheered on, little did they know that NASA would be letting many Engineers go. Al was fine and gained employment working for City Public Service in San Antonio where his parents had finally made a permanent home. Al and Marilyn then had another girl and two boys. Al spent most Friday nights at his house with his wife and children, where after dinner his parents would come over and they would play Spades or Hearts. Sundays, Al and his family attended Church and then usually ended up going over to his parent’s house where his mom would cook a home cooked meal and his dad would sometimes barbeque. Al retired from CPS after 42 years of service. Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son; he always put his wife, kids, and grandchildren first; and was ever present for both of his parents for all their needs as they aged.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Lee and his parents Robert C. and Martha (Weiblen) Lee. He is survived by his children, Deborah Hernandez and her husband, Peter, Patricia Harris and her husband, Rex, Joel Lee and Matthew Lee and his wife, Kathleen; grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Hernandez, Ariel and Ambur Harris, Mitchell, Elena and Russell Lee; great grandchildren, Adrian Davila and Brinley Harris; his sister, Margo Cagney and her husband, Michael; his brother, Bobby Lee and his wife, Carlene; nephews, Miles, Travis and Jared; and niece, Jana.
