Scott Kelvin Delpesce

May 11, 1955 - December 3, 2024

Scott Kelvin Delpesce was born May 11, 1955 in Houston to Thomas Delpesce, Jr. and Shirley Heinze Delpesce. He had two older sisters, Sandra Lee and Susan Claire.

He was in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed camping. He attended Lamar high school, and enjoyed being in the marching band. He played percussion and marched with the largest bass drum. The marching band was very active in the community. In addition to marching at high school football games, Scott participated in performances for restaurant openings, and marched in the Houston Thanksgiving Day parade.

Scott attended Texas A&M University, and went to work for Stewart & Stevenson in Houston. He got to travel internationally for work which he enjoyed very much. Stewart and Stevenson was bought out by GE, and Scott retired from GE after 40 years of combined service.

Scott was a lifelong avid reader. He enjoyed both science fiction and nonfiction. He had a very sharp mind, and always won family games of trivial pursuit.

Scott’s father Thomas was born in New Orleans, and the family still has many cousins there. Scott loved to visit his family in New Orleans, especially his cousins “Uncle” Silver and “Aunt” Bee Paradelas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Shirley, his sister Susy and her husband Harry Elliott, his niece Kristy Elliott Hansen, and his New Orleans cousin “Uncle” Silver. He is survived by sister Sandy and her husband Ray Coker, niece Cathy and her husband Steve Mullis, nephew Darren Coker and his wife Teresa, niece Stacey Elliott and her partner Will, nephew in law Josh Hansen, great nephews Matthew Coker, Connar Mullis, Riley Mullis and Rhys Hansen, great nieces Robin Coker and Alyssa Hansen, the current Delpesce family matriarch Aunt Beth Degeyter, his New Orleans cousin “Aunt” Bee, and many additional cousins.

He will be buried in Brookside cemetery next to his parents, and near many other family members. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and cousin. He will be missed.
