Charles Samuel Mitchell, 72, real estate developer and investment banker, died Friday at a local hospital.
A native of Goresbeck, he lived in Dallas 67 years. He was the son of the late Col. C. S. Mitchell, pioneer Dallas resident, and Julia Rector Mitchell from Little Rock, Arkansas.
He served as a captain of the Trezevant Rifles of the National Guard, and later as a captain in the Spanish-American War.
He first entered the banking business with the American National Bank, and later was one of the organizers of the North Texas National Bank which merged with the Republic National Bank. He served the latter as executive vice-president.
Among real estate developments in which he participated were Kessler Park, Owenwood, Inwood Estates, Rector Place, Manchester Place, and Lyndhurst on Walnut Hill Lane. All have been taken into the City of Dallas.
Mitchell was a charter member of Christ Episcopal Church. He resided at Cliff Towers Hotel.
Services will be Saturday. Burial in Oakland Cemetery.
