Colonel Elliott Howland Whitlock was born May 5, 1867 in New Jersey (or Brooklyn, NY), the son of Elisha Schenck Whitlock and Sarah Jane Elliot. He died July 3, 1956 at age 89 a resident of the University Club, Cleveland, Ohio. He was a WWI veteran of the Meuse-Argonne; Defensive Sector Feb 1918 to May 29, 1918. Disch. April 1919. Award - MCC

Elliott's 1st wife, Lillian M. Drake born Oct 1867, died Friday 3 p.m. January 27, 1899 at age 32, a resident of No. 47 Eastman St., Cleveland, OH.

He married 2nd at age 40, Oct 24, 1907, Bertha Elizabeth Wellman (nee Adams). She was born in 1868 in Ohio, the daughter of Alfred Adams and Elizabeth Huntingdon. She died Tuesday, Dec 26, 1944 a resident of 11200 Edgewater Drive, Cleveland, OH. Her first husband Charles H. Wellman born 1863, died suddenly June 22, 1905, a resident of Open Hearth, Lake Ave., Cleveland.

Her husband, Frank Tennis Bowman was born Dec 26, 1862 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Israel Tennis Bowman and Harriet Elizabeth Stillman. He died May 3, 1939 at home in Twinsburg, Ohio at age 76. Both were buried in Crown Hill Cemetery.

BERTHA'S PARENTS: Alfred Adams died May 8, 1906 at age 73; buried in Lake View Cemetery. Elizabeth Huntington Adams died January 15, 1922 at age 85 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elliott H. Whitlock, 11200 Edgewater Drive.

Elliott's funeral was Friday, July 6, 1956 at Old Stone Church, Public Square. Bertha's funeral was Dec 26, 1944 at the residence, 11200 Edgewater Drive, Cleveland, OH. Interment in Lakewood Park Cemetery.
