John Joseph Jaap
Born: December 26, 1933
Died: February 22, 2012

John Joseph Jaap, 78, of Prosperity went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2012.
Born December 26, 1933 at Ganado, TX he was the son of the late Frank Albert Jaap and Alvina Mary Skrla Jaap.
John was an avid reader, especially of the Bible. He enjoyed taking long walks with his wife and loved to garden. Spending time with his grandchildren and other children was special to him. He was an elder at the North Beckley Church of Christ and an active member of Raleigh County chapter of West Virginia Right to Life.
John received his Bachelors degree from Texas A & M University and his Masters from WVU; he retired from teaching in 1995, he taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, with his last class being the 4th grade at Cranberry Prosperity Elementary.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother: Frank Jaap, Sr. and a brother-in-law: Joel Chappell.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife: Nadine Jaap of Prosperity; two sons: Lee Jaap and wife, Amy of Hampton, VA and Mark Jaap and wife, Edna of Beckley; a daughter: Anna L. Jaap of Nashville, TN; five granddaughters: Anna M. Jaap of Statesboro, GA, Kayla Rogowski and Shannon Rogowski of Hampton, VA, Carrie Jaap and Nicole Jaap of Beckley; a grandson: Dennis Jaap of Beckley; two brothers: Bill Jaap and wife, Tincy of Ganado, TX and Fred Jaap and wife, Becky of Dickinson, TX; a sister: Marian Chappell of Midland, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thanks to Adam and Heather Davis.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the North Beckley Church of Christ, 3721 Robert C. Byrd Dr. with ministers Adam Davis and Keith Bellamy officiating. Following the services John will be laid to rest at the Prosperity Cemetery, Prosperity.
Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 PM until time of the service Saturday at the North Beckley Church of Christ.
