direct link to this exhibit

San Antonio, TX

Mandy graduated from Texas A&M University in 1987 with a BBA in marketing and began her career with Tenneco Gas in Houston. In 1991, she earned an MBA at Texas Tech University while her husband, David Scott ’88, completed pilot training at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock. When a military move took them to Abilene, Mandy accepted a position at McMurry University as associate director of alumni relations. After starting a family, she dedicated her time and talents to being a mom, military spouse, volunteer and substitute teacher. Mandy has served in volunteer leadership positions at the schools, military bases and churches in every community where they were stationed during David’s 30-year Air Force career. In 2013, with both sons away at college, she focused her volunteer efforts on Texas A&M-related organizations, first becoming involved with the San Antonio Aggie Moms’ Club and serving on its board for three years. In addition to having served on the Friends of the Texas A&M University Libraries board of directors, Mandy currently serves on the Texas A&M President’s Board of Visitors for the Corps of Cadets. She is a prior representative at large for The Association of Former Students, a member of Aggie Women constituent network and a 2018 recipient of the Aggie Women Legacy Award. A proud member of the San Antonio A&M Club since 2007, Mandy was elected to its board of directors in 2015, served as president in 2019 and is a past chair and current member of the Club’s endowment committee. A life member of the Ross Volunteer Association, Mandy served on its board as communications chair, director and president, and she continues active committee involvement. She is a volunteer Aggie Corps Recruiter and a member of the Corps of Cadets Association, where she served on the advisory council and the planning committee for the 40th Anniversary of Women in the Corps. While at Texas A&M, Mandy held the distinction of being the first female cadet selected to Corps staff, the first woman to serve as deputy Corps commander and one of the first two women inducted into the Ross Volunteer Company. She is a recipient of the Buck Weirus Spirit Award and the Brown Foundation-Earl Rudder Outstanding Senior Award. Mandy and David are Endowed Century Club members and donors of a General Rudder Corps Scholarship. They have two sons: Braden ’16 and Garrett.

“Giving back to The Association of Former Students is the most comprehensive and impactful way an Aggie can support programs to recognize excellence among our students, faculty, and staff, to ensure the legacy of our unique Aggie traditions, to foster leadership within our A&M Clubs and Constituent Networks, and to strengthen bonds among former students creating a ripple effect of loyalty across the greater Aggie Network.”
