Shara serves as The Association of Former Students’ 2025 Chair Elect. A Texas native, Shara earned a bachelor’s degree in business analysis from Texas A&M University in 1990 and a master’s degree in public health from The George Washington University. She is president of McClure Health Solutions, a healthcare advisory and consulting practice that focuses on relationships between health care providers and health insurance payers. Services include contracting and negotiations strategy, dispute resolution and state/federal compliance around reimbursement policy. She has been an executive leader in the health care industry and represented insurance companies, hospital systems and physician organizations including BlueCross and BlueShield of Texas, Humana and Tenet Health. She was named an Outstanding Alumnus of A&M’s Mays Business School in 2023. In addition to serving as the immediate past chair of the board for the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Shara is a member of the Dallas Assembly, an alumnus of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Leadership Dallas Class of 2017, a senior fellow of Houston’s American Leadership Forum and a graduate of the Leading Women Executives Program developed by the Corporate Leadership Center of Chicago. She is on the Dallas Advisory Board of CareerSpring and previously served on the board for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Dallas, where she was also a mentor. Additionally, Shara was named one of the Top 30 Influential Women of Houston in 2013. Prior to her election to The Association of Former Students’ board of directors, she served as a representative at large. She is an Endowed Century Club member and has endowed an Aggie Ring Scholarship and a Mays Business School scholarship. She is a member of the Chancellor’s Century Council and serves on the Mays Business School Dean’s Advisory Board. Shara and her husband, Craig, are proud parents to Melinda ’15, who is married to Ryan Haughey ’13, and Michael ’18, who is married to Katie Morey McClure ’18. She enjoys spending time with her family, running, golfing and traveling.
